Phones found in car may trap hitmen

TWO mobile phones may hold “crucial” clues to the Alps massacre, it emerged yesterday.

They were found in the bullet-riddled BMW in which three members of a British family were shot dead.
French cops suspect aerospace businessman Saad Al-Hilli, 50, was lured to an ambush by a professional hit squad.
And the phones’ call and text records could reveal information about who Mr Al-Hilli was dealing with in the days, hours or even minutes before he was murdered along with his dentist wife Ikbal, 47, and her mother Suhaila, 74.

French cyclist Sylvain Mollier, 45, was also shot dead after apparently disturbing the killers at a beauty spot near Lake Annecy. A French police source said: “The phones are crucial to the enquiry. They are now being analysed by specialist officers.”

Yesterday it emerged the Al-Hillis’ seven-year-old daughter Zainab suffered a badly fractured skull during a suspected pistol-whipping and was hit in the shoulder by a bullet. Her sister Zeena, four, survived after hiding under her mother’s legs.
The four dead perished in a blaze of clinical semi-automatic gunfire lasting less than 30 seconds.
At least 25 shots were fired. The victims — on a caravan holiday — were hit at least three times, with two bullets in the head. Father-of-three Mr Mollier was shot five times.
