Denise Van Outen has signed up for the new Strictly Come Dancing

The TV presenter and West End star will compete against the likes of Girls Aloud’s Kimberley Walsh, Olympian Victoria Pendleton and Fern Britton.

Bosses are hoping the beauty, who has proved her dance skills in stage shows such as Tell Me On A Sunday and Legally Blonde, will raise the bar in this year’s competition.

Mum-of-one Denise, who is married to actor Lee Mead, has previously released a dance fitness DVD called Denise Van Outen — Pure Dance Workout back in 2008.

A source said: “Denise has loads of rhythm and she’s superfit so she should be a great contestant.
“She’s never done ballroom before but she’s certainly got the raw materials to wow on the dance floor.”

However, Denise is more used to being on the judging panel than being judged.
She has previously been a judge alongside Andrew Lloyd Webber on his theatre audition talent shows Any Dream Will Do and How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria?
Our source said: “Having been on the other side of the table, Denise will really want to impress the judges.”
This year’s competition sees Darcey Bussell replace Alesha Dixon on the judging panel.
Head judge Len Goodman returns with Bruno Tonioli and Craig Revel Horwood.
The tenth series begins with a launch show next Saturday and the live shows start on October 5.
