GARY CALDWELL has warned Scotland’s World Cup rivals: This is OUR time.
The Wigan star insists the Group A qualifiers hold no fears for Craig Levein’s squad.
As he prepared to lead his country out for Saturday’s crunch opener with Serbia at Hampden, Caldwell, left, told SunSport: “We believe this is our time.
“It’s been a long time without qualifying and we desperately want to get to this World Cup. We believe we can do it.”
Caldwell will proudly take the skipper’s armband when he wins his 50th cap against the Serbs — and he knows a good start in Group A is a MUST.
He said: “We need to stand up and be counted and when the games come around we need to produce the goods by going out and getting the wins.”
Scotland haven’t qualified for a major tournament since 1998.
But Caldwell insists that boss Levein and his squad are driven on by the bitter experience of the failed Euro 2012 campaign.
He added: “We had a strong finish to the last campaign.
